I have a 2001 Honda H1011 Riding Mower. It has a single cylinder 11.5 hp motor. The motor runs great and has always started very easily with its electric starter. The only problem is seepage of oil from between the crankcase upper and lower half on the right side. It isn't too bad, but it eventually causes dirt to accumulate on the crankcase and frame in that area and requires cleaning about once a month when I use the mower in the Spring and Summer.
I have the Service Manual and am very capable of disassembling the motor to replace the gasket that goes between the haves. I'm trying to avoid the two days of work that I estimate it would take me to complete that job since it's quite invasive.
I'm wondering if there is any product that could be applied after cleaning the leaky joint thoroughly that would stop the leak. I don't want anything that couldn't later be removed in the event that I have to later disassemble the motor.
I've considered a thin bead of self-curing silicone or something similar. Any ideas are appreciated.
I didn't find the right solution from the internet.
