Hey,
I inherited this mower.
It has spark, and a new spark plug.
From the pull cord tension, it has compression.
With the air cleaner off and the throttle wide open, I have tried to start it with gas and starter fluid down the carb throat.
No Luck....
What else should l try?
TIA,
Rog

25 year old yardman mower: no start
I've got one of these old lawn mowers as well. One problem I had is that the bolt(s) holding the carburetor would come loose and made it so the carburetor would slowly come out of place. This, of course, affected its ability to stay running and it wouldn't start again either. It wasn't obvious at first, since the carburetor hadn't completely fallen off. But as it gets looser and comes out more and more, eventually the engine will stop running and you can't get it to start again until the carburetor is attached properly again.
